We’re looking for an experienced Restructuring & Insolvency Associate to join our London team. You’ll be joining a highly experienced and collaborative national practice, working on significant matters for clients across the UK and alongside colleagues who are leaders in their field.
The role is based in our London office and works within our hybrid working approach, giving you a balance of time working alongside the team in the office and remotely. In practice, colleagues in the team spend around 3 days a week in the office, depending on client and team requirements.
This is a varied, market-facing role, offering the opportunity to develop your experience of formal insolvency processes, distressed transactions and bank-led restructurings, while building strong relationships with clients and the wider restructuring market.
The role will have a particular focus on non-contentious, transactional and advisory work.
You’ll act for leading insolvency practitioners, advising on formal insolvency processes, appointment documentation, distressed business and asset sales and related transactional and advisory matters.
You’ll work closely with board directors and other stakeholders, helping them navigate periods of financial difficulty and providing practical, commercial advice on their duties, options and next steps.
In addition, you’ll advise banks, financial institutions and other stakeholders in relation to entities in financial stress or distress. This will include reviewing finance and security documents and advising on waivers and amendments, restructuring options and enforcement strategy.
The team works on a wide range of significant national matters. Examples of the type of past work undertaken include restructuring major UK retailers, assisting with a large number of energy company failures and providing strategic advisory support to boards and other stakeholders.
While the majority of the role will be non-contentious, you won’t be confined to one side of the practice. Around 25-30% of the caseload is expected to involve contentious work, giving you the opportunity to maintain and develop a broad practice. This could include drafting and reviewing applications, witness statements and other litigation documents, as well as supporting wider disputes and investigations.
It’s also a market-facing role. You’ll have the opportunity to develop client relationships, build your own profile and get involved in business development as the practice continues to grow.
We’re ideally looking for a lawyer with around 4-6 years’ PQE and good experience within restructuring and insolvency.
You’ll be joining a supportive and experienced team with the opportunity to work on high-quality national matters, develop strong client relationships and continue building your reputation in the restructuring and insolvency market.
