Job summary

Dorset Council UK is seeking experienced social workers to join our Children’s Services teams. We emphasise relationships over process, delivering timely help to children and families within an Outstanding Ofsted framework.

You will work across the continuum of need, including early help, Child in Need, and Child Protection, within integrated locality teams. The role prioritises reflective supervision, safeguarding, and multi-agency collaboration to create sustainable change.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
• Structured ASYE programme available for newly qualified practitioners.
• Experience in statutory social work and safeguarding is valued.

Responsibilities

• Deliver assessments that lead to clear, measurable changes in family outcomes.
• Ensure children’s lived experiences shape analysis and planning.
• Build purposeful relationships with families to support sustainable change.
• Work restoratively and provide constructive challenge when required.
• Prepare high-quality reports for court proceedings.
• Contribute to multi-agency decision making that progresses plans.
• Engage in reflective supervision and continuous professional development.
