Job description

Job Title: Restaurant Service Assistant

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 16 – 18 hours per week, Mon-Fri

Salary: £12.60 per hour

Location: Onsite at Charles Clore Court, Reading, Berkshire

About the role

To provide a comprehensive catering service, ensuring high-quality meals are delivered to clients living in sheltered accommodation and/or the wider community. This role involves working in an extra care setting within the catering service to deliver excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities
  1. Check resident food profiles for allergies, preferences, and IDDSI rating, adhering to company and Environmental Health Standards.
  2. Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, storerooms, and the kitchen office. Wash uniforms on-site and keep supplies tidy.
  3. Assist the Chef Manager with deliveries, stock rotation, removing out-of-date items, and communicating low stock levels.
  4. Conduct Health, Safety, and Food Hygiene standards checks, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and company policies.
  5. Support the Chef Manager in preparing for inspections or audits by external authorities.
  6. Arrange and manage mandatory training requirements set by A2Dominion.
  7. Serve meals to residents within the restaurant.
About You

Desirable qualifications and skills include:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths & English (Grades A* - C)
  • Cooking experience (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Extra Care home environment
  • Ability to engage with elderly and vulnerable customers and their families
  • Transferable skills and a caring attitude aligned with our values
