Job summary

Major Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Children’s Support Worker to provide high-quality, child-centred support within our Respite Service in York and surrounding areas.

You’ll support children and young people with learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD and other needs, build positive relationships with families, and help with activities at home or in the community, contributing to safer, happier days.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months’ paid UK experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities or other complex needs.
• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent).
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people in their homes and in the community.
• Build positive relationships with children and families.
• Plan and take part in fun, meaningful and age-appropriate activities.
• Encourage confidence, independence and everyday life skills.
• Deliver support using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma-informed approaches where appropriate.
• Follow care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
• Complete accurate records and communicate effectively with families and other professionals.
