Respiratory Service Manager (Diagnostics)

Ultracardiac Ltd are a leading provider of Diagnostic Services in the South West are are looking for a Respiratory Service Manager to join our growing diagnostic provision.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a developing service within a supportive and quality-focused team. The role will involve managing a multi-regional service including a team of Physiologists and training programme, and ensuring we are working hard towards IQIPS accreditation.

Main duties of the job

The main duties will include:

  • Supporting delivery of a range of respiratory diagnostics from community-based locations including spirometry, FeNO and Full Lung Functions Tests.
  • Overseeing a robust and improvement-focused Quality Assurance framework that evidences our commitment to the highest standards of care.
  • Developing and managing a team of physiologists and trainees/assistants.
  • Liaising with the wider Management Team to assist with business development and service growth.

Ultracardiac are an established and trusted provider of Diagnostic Services across the South West. For many years we have held a number of contracts that support both primary and secondary care pathways, and work with the majority of NHS Trusts and ICBs in the region.

We have been growing our services by supporting Community Diagnostic Centres across the South West more recently, and are expanding our provision beyond Cardiology to include other diagnostic modalities.

Job responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of respiratory diagnostics across multiple sites, ensuring that services are safe, effective and patient-centred
  • Provide expert clinical input and maintain personal clinical competence, performing a range of tests to ARTP standards
  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of quality assurance frameworks, working towards IQIPS accreditation
  • Manage and support a team of respiratory physiologists and support staff, ensuring appropriate supervision, training, and professional development
  • Develop and maintain local training and competency programmes in line with national guidance
  • Work closely with senior managers, NHS and business partners, and commissioners to ensure services meet contractual and clinical expectations
  • Maintain compliance with governance requirements, policies and procedures, including infection control, incident reporting, and health and safety
  • Contribute to audit, service evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives
Person Specification
Experience
  • Competent in performing and interpreting a wide range of respiratory investigations (e.g. spirometry, FeNO, gas transfer, static lung volumes)
  • ARTP accreditation
  • Previous experience in a leadership, supervisory, or training role
  • Experience in service development or IQIPS accreditation
Qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology (Respiratory), Healthcare Science (Respiratory) or equivalent

  • Strong organisation skills and a strategic approach to problem-solving
  • Willingness and ability to travel across sites in the South West as required
