This post offers an exciting opportunity to work within the award-winning AIR service (Adult Integrated Respiratory Service), based in East Berkshire as a Band 6 Respiratory Specialist Physiotherapist. Ongoing support will be provided by the Respiratory MDT and two Band 7 Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapists.
As an AIR Physiotherapist, no one day will be the same. You may run an ambulatory oxygen clinic in the morning and an outpatient clinic in the afternoon, the next day lead a Pulmonary rehabilitation class followed by providing training to carers regarding chest clearance in a patient’s home.
The AIR Physio team runs Pulmonary Rehabilitation (face to face, at home and online), Ambulatory oxygen clinics, and Outpatient clinics offering management for chest clearance, chronic cough, and breathlessness management, breathing pattern retraining, exercise advice, and domiciliary visits.
The chosen candidate will have a passion for respiratory physiotherapy and supporting those with chronic lung disease to gain the best possible health-related quality of life.
The role is extremely varied, based in King Edward VII, Windsor, but covering East Berkshire through satellite clinics, home visits, and Pulmonary Rehabilitation in local community centres; hence a car and a driving licence are essential.
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs, development, implementation, and evaluation of care for people with respiratory conditions, in both the outpatient and domiciliary settings alongside the delivery of Pulmonary Rehabilitation across East Berkshire.
The successful candidate will be responsible for running Pulmonary Rehabilitation assessments and classes; Ambulatory Oxygen Clinics; Domiciliary and Outpatient Clinics to assist patients with chest clearance; cough management; breathing pattern disorders and exercise advice.
Close working within the MDT is essential to optimise care for patients under the Early Supported Discharge and Admission Avoidance services. Our goal is to aid active management of these individuals to help avoid admission where possible.
The post holder will utilise clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills to identify the needs of people with respiratory disease and deliver care that recognises social, cultural, and spiritual differences.
A background of basic clinical respiratory knowledge, skills, and experience, with our training and support, will enable the post holder to develop into a Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist, working independently within the MDT. The post holder will have a passion for Respiratory Physio and a desire to help patients with chronic lung disease improve their Health Related Quality of Life, mainly in the community setting.
