Respiratory Physiotherapist

LNWH is seeking a highly motivated B6 rotational Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our dynamic and forward-thinking team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the delivery of high-quality respiratory physiotherapy services, contributing to the health and well-being of our patients. As a B6 Respiratory Physiotherapist, you will work in a challenging yet rewarding clinical environment with opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Your role is multifaceted and integral to the patient care journey and the successful candidates will undergo nine-monthly rotations across the following areas:

  • ITU and Surgical Respiratory Wards
  • Medical HDU, Medical Respiratory Wards
  • Paediatrics/Medical
  • Vascular, Amputee & General Surgery wards, including Amputee outpatients
  • Regional Hyperacute Rehabilitation Unit (RHRU)
  • Complex Colorectal surgery including prehabilitation - at Central Middlesex Hospital

You will be responsible for the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with various respiratory conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, COPD, asthma, trauma, critical care, and post-operative thoracic surgery patients.

We provide a 7-day therapy service for our Trust and therefore you need to be able to work weekends and bank holiday, in a rota basis. This includes our acute respiratory out of hours service (On-call), which includes treating both adults and children with complex respiratory conditions.

Main duties of the job

This post will give you experience in a number of acute clinical areas, where you can further develop your knowledge in acute respiratory care. These currently include acute medicine, cardiothoracics, intensive care, OP clinics, surgery as well as vascular. Please note rotations may be removed or added according to service need.

The main responsibilities of this B6 Specialist Physiotherapist post include:

  • Working across various clinical areas to perform advanced respiratory assessments; formulate treatment plans and goal setting, with a highly diverse range of patients.
  • Working closely with specialised MDT to allow for the seamless care of patients, and successful transitions, from the hyper acute to the home setting, facilitating safe discharge.
  • Involvement in training and development, with both the therapy team, members of the MDT, students and patients/carers.
  • The development of professional leadership and management skills, through on the job learning, supervision, and in-service training.

What we are looking for:

  • An individual with broad experience in managing patients with respiratory illness working on acute wards
  • An individual with experience educating other professionals, patients, and carers in physiotherapy techniques for chronic respiratory illness.
  • Flexibility to work at weekends and be rostered on the Physiotherapy Respiratory On-call working across the acute wards
  • The ability to treat patients with care, compassion, and dignity

Experience
