Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust in Basildon invites applications for a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine. The role combines ward-based work, outpatient clinics, and procedural bronchoscopy within a supportive team of four consultants.

The post includes two ward rounds weekly, three outpatient clinics, bronchoscopy every second week, and a 1-in-7 weekend on-call. There is potential for 7-day working and a job plan of 10 PAs (+ APA), with regular reviews at 3, 6, and 12 months.

Qualifications

• GMC registration required and eligibility for CCT in respiratory medicine.
• Full GMC Registration and evidence of specialist training.
• Higher degree in Medicine or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to two ward rounds per week on Burstead or Orsett wards.
• Deliver three outpatient clinics per week.
• Lead a bronchoscopy list every two weeks.
• Participate in general medical and respiratory on‑call rotas.
• Provide 1‑in‑7 weekend cover for new patients and reviews.
• Lead care in specialist area and engage in CPD, teaching and research.
