An exciting opportunity has arisen for two skilled and enthusiastic Respiratory Consultants to join a growing and supportive respiratory team in the South West. These permanent roles are part of a departmental expansion and offer the opportunity to make a real difference to local services, accompanied by generous relocation and development packages.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Service Delivery

  • Join a team of 7 consultant respiratory physicians and an associate specialist providing a comprehensive respiratory service across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
  • Participate in the care of patients in the respiratory ward, which includes a 6-bed Higher Care/Acute Respiratory Unit (ARU) for enhanced respiratory support.
  • Offer specialist respiratory services, including bronchoscopy, EBUS, pleural clinics, and outpatient consultations.
  • Provide clinical input into subspecialty areas such as lung cancer, TB, cystic fibrosis, sleep medicine, ILD, respiratory failure, and home ventilation.

Subspecialty Development

  • Contribute to the expansion of existing specialist services or develop new areas of expertise based on personal interest and service need.
  • Work closely with regional centres, including Plymouth, for the management of severe asthma, thoracic surgery, and medical thoracoscopy.

Teamwork and Integration

  • Collaborate with experienced respiratory nurses, physiotherapists, physiologists, and integrated care teams across the county.
  • Participate in community clinics and the development of integrated respiratory pathways across primary and secondary care.

Training and Development

  • Take part in the education and supervision of junior doctors, fellows, and medical students.
  • Engage in professional development, CPD, and clinical governance with revalidation support.
