Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and motivated individual to join the North Region Resource Planning Department.

This is an essential role within the Scottish Ambulance Service, responsible for the effective planning, maintenance and coordination of staff rosters to support operational service delivery across the Region. The successful candidate will provide a high level of administrative support, helping to ensure the efficient utilisation of resources while maintaining accurate and compliant staffing arrangements.

The post holder will be responsible for planning and maintaining staff rosters, allocating shifts to operational personnel and maximising the effective use of relief staff to meet service demands. This will involve forward planning as well as ensuring short notice coverage of shifts due to absence etc. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing and communicating timely, accurate resource planning information, ensuring managers and relevant departments have the information required to support operational decision-making.

The ideal candidate will be computer literate and confident in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. You will be able to work independently, demonstrate a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving, manage competing priorities effectively, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Previous experience of working within a Resource Planning or Scheduling department would be advantageous.

As the role involves handling confidential and sensitive information, the successful candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of the Data Protection Act and a high degree of professional integrity.

This post is offered on a 1-year fixed term contract working 36 hours per week Monday Friday with weekend working also required. A blended approach combining home and office-based working can be considered.

Informal enquiries can be made to Frances Cameron, Resource Planning Supervisor
