NXT is excited to present a rare opportunity to work for an established self-catering holiday resort located in the heart of the Lake District. They are looking to appoint an experienced, driven, and like-minded Resort Manager.

The Role

This role is responsible for day-to-day management activities across the resort and will have key responsibilities that may shape the direction and performance of the site. The ideal candidate could come from a property management and/or hospitality background with a variety of skills.

Key Accountabilities
  • To effectively manage the resort within budget and ensure it is maintained to the required standards.
  • To deal with owners and rental clients, resolve problems, and help maintain the high standards set by the Board.
  • Ensuring that staff (whether permanent, temporary, or contracted) work to the required standards and conform to all health and safety requirements.
  • To ensure that the site meets its obligations regarding Employment Law, Health and Safety, and Safeguarding, with regular reviews of its policies.
  • To work with the Finance Director to manage income and expenditure, prepare and monitor budgets, providing a monthly report.
  • To work with the Operations Director and Refurbishment Committee, and report on any internal or external issues.
  • To work with the Directors and liaise with external professional support staff concerning HR matters.
  • To promote sales of unsold weeks and liaise with the Directors concerning marketing initiatives.
  • To attend Quarterly Board Meetings as required, providing financial updates and a Resort Manager’s Report.
  • To oversee all seasonal projects and work closely with relevant stakeholders.
  • To carry out any other tasks reasonably regarded as falling within the requirements of the Resort Manager’s role.
Skills and Experience
  • Ability to manage, supervise, support, and develop team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to negotiate.
  • Proven ability to work constructively with a diverse range of people.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate, organize, and prioritize work.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside normal hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to initiate and plan projects and manage an agreed budget.
  • Excellent IT, record-keeping, and reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of local government agencies is an advantage.
  • Experience in the Holiday Resort/Cottage Rentals or Hotels industry; promoting sales is desirable.
  • Experience of Health and Safety requirements.
  • Experience in preparing and managing budgets.
  • Experience working with external contractors, including property maintenance.
  • Experience in recruitment, HR, and training.
