General Manager

Location: Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras (Caribbean resort destination)

Overview

The Hotel is a vibrant beachfront resort with 80+ rooms, a dive center, convention facilities, and expanding sports/recreation amenities. The guest mix includes international tourists, regional travelers, and group events. The Resort Hotel General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of resort operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, financial performance, and team leadership. This role requires strategic thinking, operational excellence, and a passion for hospitality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations across all departments: front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, beach services, maintenance, and guest activities.
  • Drive revenue growth while maintaining exceptional guest satisfaction
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team, fostering accountability and a strong service culture
  • Implement efficient processes and cost controls suited to a developing infrastructure
  • Balance international service standards with local realities
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain quality, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Represent the hotel in regional and international markets
  • Collaborate closely with ownership on strategic direction
Guest Experience
  • Foster a culture of warm hospitality and personalized service.
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance satisfaction.
Financial Management
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor revenue streams, control costs, and ensure profitability.
  • Prepare financial reports and present performance metrics to ownership.
Team Management
  • Recruit, train, and lead a diverse team of hospitality professionals.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and promote staff development.
  • Build a positive, inclusive, and service-oriented work culture.
Marketing & Sales
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to promote the resort locally and internationally.
  • Develop packages and promotions to increase occupancy and revenue.
  • Represent the resort at tourism and hospitality events.
Compliance & Sustainability
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Promote sustainable practices in resort operations and guest engagement.
  • Partner with local organizations to support community and ecological initiatives.
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 6 years in senior hotel management roles, ideally in 4- or 5-star resorts
  • Experience in Central America, the Caribbean, or similar destinations with limited infrastructure
  • Hands-on leadership style with strategic acumen
  • Adaptable and resilient in dynamic island environments
  • Fluent in English; Spanish proficiency is a must have
  • Proven expertise in P&L management, team development, and guest experience
Preferred Attributes
  • Familiarity with Caribbean hospitality culture.
  • Experience with eco-tourism or sustainable resort operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote, tropical environment.

Additional Information

Immigration & Work Permits - Provided by employer

  • Foreign candidates require an employer-sponsored work permit via the Ministry of Labor, plus temporary residency (Empleado category).
