We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our thriving Design and Technology department in an OFSTED Outstanding secondary school in Hammersmith.

About the Design and Technology Department:

The Design and Technology department is a collaborative and forward-thinking team with a shared passion for fostering a love of design and making in our students. We offer a well-equipped workshop with state-of-the-art facilities, including CAD/CAM equipment, and a stimulating curriculum that covers a wide range of materials and processes.

About the Role:

  • Teach Resistant Materials across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching Product Design at Key Stage 5 depending on experience and interest.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including practical activities, design projects, and CAD/CAM software, to bring Resistant Materials to life for students.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Resistant Materials curriculum remains relevant, challenging, and inspiring.
  • Foster a love of design and making in students, encouraging them to explore different materials and processes and develop their creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Design and Technology education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Resistant Materials and a passion for design and making.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to teaching and student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Design and Technology and relevant examination specifications.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
