Role Summary

This is a senior Operational Risk role requiring specialist expertise across Operational Resilience, Recovery & Resolution, Third Party Risk Management (TPRM), and People Risk.

This is a high-profile position within the Operational Resilience function, providing exposure to senior stakeholders and regulatory engagement across the UK and Europe. The role will play a key part in further developing and embedding the organisation's resilience framework, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory expectations, including the FCA/PRA Operational Resilience requirements and the EU Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), while strengthening third-party oversight, recovery capabilities, and people risk management.

The successful candidate will support the Executive Director in bringing together a range of policies, frameworks, and practices to create a fully integrated resilience capability. This will require strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, combined with deep technical knowledge across risk and resilience disciplines, to drive alignment, challenge, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Business Area
Position Description

As a subject matter expert with significant experience (typically 5-10+ years) in Operational Resilience, Recovery & Resolution, and Third Party Risk Management, you will play a key role in identifying, assessing, and overseeing risks that could impact the delivery of critical business services. Working closely with senior stakeholders across Operations, Technology, Procurement, and Risk, you will help ensure that robust resilience frameworks are maintained and continue to evolve in line with regulatory expectations (including FCA/PRA requirements, Basel principles, and emerging industry standards).

The role requires strong stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skills, together with the ability to provide effective review and challenge across a broad range of resilience activities. This includes assessing the design and effectiveness of business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements, ensuring resilience capabilities are credible, regularly tested, and capable of supporting recovery within agreed impact tolerances. You will also provide oversight and challenge in relation to third-party resilience risks, including outsourcing arrangements, critical suppliers, and cloud service providers.

This involves assessing the effectiveness of risk management and governance arrangements, challenging First Line assessments where appropriate, evaluating external resilience capabilities, and supporting resilience testing involving key third-party dependencies. From a governance perspective, you will contribute to the development and ongoing enhancement of resilience frameworks, policies, and reporting, while preparing high-quality management information for senior committees and supporting regulatory engagement activities. The role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, risk oversight, and stakeholder engagement, together with the ability to translate complex risk and resilience concepts into clear, practical, and actionable insights for senior management.
