21 Huntley Avenue is a short breaks service based in Penrith, Cumbria. We offer residential short breaks to children and young people with learning and physical disabilities, autism, and complex needs, including behaviours that challenge. We encourage inclusion, ensuring that the children and young people are part of the wider community through outings and activities, aiming to provide a fun and stimulating environment for all our young people.
Working in our Children’s Homes involves being part of a young person’s daily life, supporting them through their highest highs and lowest lows. Challenges may arise, but so do small victories. Our goal is to create the best possible outcomes for the young people in our care. Support workers find fulfillment in making positive impacts, celebrating even the smallest achievements.
You will provide high-quality support to children and young people with SEND. Working as part of a team, you will assess individual needs, implement care plans, and provide supervision and support. Your role involves understanding each young person’s needs, personality, and potential, guiding them toward a positive future. You will plan and organize engaging activities such as go-karting, theme parks, adventure days, and evening/weekend outings to ensure fun and development.
We are looking for someone with experience working with children and young people with disabilities, preferably in a residential setting. A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare is desirable, but we welcome applications from passionate individuals willing to work towards this qualification. Knowledge of managing behaviours that challenge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with children, young people, and their families are essential.
