Please be aware this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.
Primary Purpose and Scope of the Job:
- To provide child-centred support and/or care to children in a team setting as directed by the Registered / Supported Accommodation Manager.
- To contribute to ensuring that the care and support provided to children is of the highest quality in a setting which encourages positive experiences and outcomes.
- To safeguard and promote the wellbeing of the children in the home or supported accommodation.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality care and support for children to ensure a safe and stable environment that helps them reach their full potential.
- Create a child-centred and stimulating environment for children to receive physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care and support, acting as a positive adult role model.
- Act as a key worker for assigned children, maintaining key worker files, contributing to reviews, and developing individual care plans and risk assessments under the supervision of the Registered / Supported Accommodation Manager.
- Support and advocate for the children in the home or supported accommodation.
- Participate in planning, preparing, and delivering activities for children both in the home and in the community.
- Assist children with their education, including attending school meetings, supporting with homework, and providing guidance related to education, employment, and training for children in supported accommodation.
- Maintain accurate records related to each child's plans and contribute to care and pathway plans regularly.
- Communicate effectively with children, observe their behavior, and record significant issues, always listening to their wishes and feelings.
- Encourage appropriate behavior and manage challenging behavior both inside and outside the home or supported accommodation.
- Support children in meeting their health and medical needs.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues through team meetings and handovers.
- Stay informed about relevant legislation, policies, and regulations, especially those related to safeguarding, health & safety, equal opportunities, and data protection.
- Promote and respect the children’s identity, including religion, culture, ethnicity, sexuality, and linguistic needs, offering alternative communication methods where possible.
- Work on a rota basis, including weekends, sleep-ins, and bank holidays, to ensure adequate staffing.
- Perform domestic duties such as household chores, food preparation, cleaning, laundry, and general household maintenance in line with health and safety standards.
- Undertake 1:1 and group work with young people based on risk assessments and needs.
- Engage in professional development through supervision, training, and appraisals.
- Adhere to dress code and conduct standards set by management to maintain a professional image.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, in line with the role’s responsibilities.
- Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of children and/or vulnerable adults.
