Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking experienced Waking Night Residential Support Workers to assist in a SEND school and residential setting in the DE4 area. You will support children and young people with a range of SEND, ensuring a safe, calm night-time environment and responsive care.

This hands-on role requires attentiveness, patience, and a compassionate approach to the individual needs of the young people in your care.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Previous residential, care, education or support experience.
• Confidence working waking-night shifts.
• A patient, compassionate and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• An understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• The ability to remain calm and responsive during challenging situations.
• Reliability and a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable young people.

Responsibilities

• Providing waking-night support within the residential setting.
• Ensuring young people remain safe and comfortable throughout the night.
• Supporting individual SEND and additional care needs.
• Responding calmly to challenging situations or changes in behaviour.
• Following individual care and support plans.
• Completing appropriate observations and records.
• Supporting personal care where required.
• Working closely with the wider residential and SEND team.
• Maintaining safeguarding and professional standards at all times.

Waking Night Residential Support Workers to work within a specialist

SEND school and residential setting in the DE4 area.

You will support children and young people with a range of

special educational needs and disabilities, helping to provide a safe, calm and supportive environment throughout the night.

This is a hands‑on role where you'll need to be attentive, compassionate and confident responding to the individual needs of the young people in your care.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing waking-night support within the residential setting
• Ensuring young people remain safe and comfortable throughout the night
• Supporting individual SEND and additional care needs
• Responding calmly to challenging situations or changes in behaviour
• Following individual care and support plans
