Job description

Role Responsibility

Kent County Council's Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking (UAS) Children's Service provides accommodation and support to newly arrived unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in Kent. The Service leads on social work practice with these children, recognized as Outstanding by Ofsted. It is developing as a national centre of excellence, and we are seeking passionate individuals to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Children's Home teams at the Reception and Safe Care Services, Kent County Council owned and Ofsted regulated. These are children's homes and supported accommodations collectively known as Reception Centres. The centres are managed by a diverse team committed to protecting children and supporting their journey to more permanent homes in the UK.

We are looking for Residential Support Workers with experience working with children, who thrive on direct work and providing support in a residential setting. Successful candidates should have strong communication skills, be innovative, and passionate about their work. This role involves managing routines, setting goals for young people, maintaining punctuality, and fostering a learning environment. It is crucial during the early stages of UAS children's integration into the UK.

This position requires working on a rolling shift pattern, with weekly alternating shifts and regular weekend cover.

This role is considered a customer-facing position under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). The Council requires post holders to have sufficient spoken English/Welsh for effective job performance, as outlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.
