Job summary

Action for Children is seeking a Residential Support Worker in Glasgow to help create a warm, safe home where a young person can thrive. You will build positive relationships, support development of independence and participate in planning, activities and safeguarding within a dedicated team.

You will receive induction, ongoing training and opportunities to gain recognised qualifications while working across Stoneside Family Support services in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a care setting and building positive relationships.
  • Ability to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and families.
  • Demonstrate a solution-focused approach to address problems.
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role.
  • Be prepared to complete Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 2 years of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk.
  • Coordinate responsibilities within the service, with multi-agency collaboration and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
  • Attend professional meetings including reviews and court work.
  • Help young people in all aspects of their daily lives.
  • Maintain good communication with young people, colleagues and other professionals.

Job description

Salary: £26,099 per annum

Location: Glasgow

Contract/Hours: Permanent, Full Time 37 hours, Day shifts- 7:15am- 2:45pm, 2:15pm- 9:45pm. Night shifts- 9:30pm- 7:30am, Casual will also be considered,

As a Residential Support Worker, you will help create a warm, safe and supportive home where the young person can thrive. You’ll build positive relationships while supporting them to develop independence, enjoy new experiences and achieve their personal goals.

The role includes:

  • Supporting daily routines and promoting independence.
  • Planning and taking part in fun, meaningful activities and community outings.
  • Encouraging confidence, resilience and life skills.
  • Providing compassionate support that meets the young person’s individual needs, including responding to behaviours of concern and, where required, supporting with health and personal care.
  • Monitoring wellbeing and safeguarding the young person in a nurturing environment.
  • No two days are the same. While the role can be busy and rewarding, you’ll never be doing it alone. You’ll receive a comprehensive induction, ongoing training, regular supervision and opportunities to gain recognised qualifications as part of a supportive and dedicated team.

About the service

Stoneside Family Support is expanding, and we are excited to open Stoneside Flat 2, a new specialist residential service supporting one young person in their own living space.

Our aim is to provide a safe, stable and nurturing home where the young person can develop confidence, independence and life skills while achieving their full potential. We are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes positive experiences, wellbeing and meaningful opportunities within the local community.

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust
  • Application of a range of techniques to co‑coordinate and communicate with service users and their families
  • Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role
  • Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.
