Job summary

Barnsley Council is recruiting a Service Manager to lead three new children's residential homes in Barnsley as part of its Children in Care Sufficiency Strategy. You will oversee development, recruitment of staff including Registered Managers, and ensure delivery against regulatory standards.

You’ll build relationships with partner agencies, manage budgets and performance systems, and sit on the Out of Hours Senior Management Rota. This is a hands-on leadership role from inception.

Qualifications

• Degree level education and professional registration required.
• Post-qualifying leadership/management qualification preferred.
• Experience at team manager level in a large org delivering services to children, young people and families.
• Experience managing complex budgets and financial processes.
• Experience of planning/delivering multi-agency services including commissioning.
• Track record of leading teams to deliver high quality service improvements.
• Knowledge of children’s services legislation, policy, Ofsted regs, and safeguarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and line management across three children’s residential homes.
• Lead development and recruitment of staff including Registered Managers.
• Manage budgets, contracts and performance systems for the homes.
• Sit on the Out of Hours Senior Management Rota.
• Build the operating model and staffing for the new homes from inception.
