Job Location: Columbia, CT

Job Summary:

The Residential Program Manager is responsible for supervising and operating a residential program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to act creatively, confidently, and calmly when faced with daily challenges. Effective communication, patience, a positive attitude, and adaptability to a flexible work environment are essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises assigned Direct Support Professionals (DSP).

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure operations comply with Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) licensing regulations and MARCH, Inc. policies.
  • Develop respectful relationships with individuals supported, maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Advocate for individuals based on their personal choices.
  • Maintain positive relationships with families, guardians, DDS, interagency, and community contacts.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise DSPs to ensure quality services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of individuals and the agency.
  • Complete documentation such as behavior plans, individual goals, financial records, incident reports, and medication logs by deadlines.
  • Record and report observations related to individual care, progress, or issues.
  • Support and document responses to unusual incidents.
  • Manage house/program budgets and oversee funds responsibly.
  • Organize and facilitate staff and house meetings.
  • Participate in developing and implementing person-centered Individual Plans (IP).
  • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings as needed.
  • Represent MARCH, Inc. of Manchester's mission, philosophy, and goals to stakeholders.
  • Strive to improve service delivery continually.
  • Collaborate professionally with coworkers, community providers, and other staff.
  • Maintain required certifications and training per regulations and policies.
  • Provide emergency coverage as needed, including on-call responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with technology and computers.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services, social work, psychology, or related field.
  • Supervisory/management experience required.
  • Experience working with individuals who are intellectually/developmentally disabled.
  • Experience in a residential setting required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Ability to bend, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to access and navigate organization facilities.
