Job Description:

Osterna, part of RMG and Places for People Group, is looking for an experienced Residential Fire Risk Assessor to join a proactive and highly successful team of Health & Safety Professionals.

With a positive work/life balance, you will be home-based when not undertaking site visits. You will typically complete up to 10 site visits a week (Monday to Friday). Although we are seeking an assessor based in the South of England, national travel will be required.

You will have the flexibility to choose your working days and when to work from home, completing report writing at your convenience. Risk assessment reports will mainly focus on common internal and external areas of residential developments.

What does the role involve?

Specialising in residential housing, Osterna's Fire Risk Assessors conduct inspections on various property types including traditional residential blocks, sheltered housing, HMO, and high-rise (over 18 meters) housing, and prepare detailed reports.

These assessments help Property Managers and Directors ensure the safety of residential common areas by initiating necessary repairs or procedures.

Knowledge, skills, and experience required:

  • A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle is essential
  • Experience in fire risk assessment within residential properties, especially high-rise buildings
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Level 3 NEBOSH National General Certificate
  • Experience with Health and Safety assessments, Type 1 and Type 3 Fire Risk Assessments (HSFRA), and Compartmentation Surveys
  • Strong attention to detail and comprehensive knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and its application in property management
  • Understanding of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and relevant local guidance
  • LaCORS experience is a plus, with training provided if needed
  • Osterna specializes in Health & Safety compliance for residential properties, being Safe Contractor approved and an NSI provider of compliant Fire Risk Assessments
