Bay Cove Human Services’ mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. We provide individualized and compassionate services to individuals facing developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness across more than 175 program sites in Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.

Job Summary

As a Residential Support staff, you will provide direct care to adults with developmental disabilities, promoting independent and community living skills to enhance their quality of life.

Essential Functions of Position
  1. Follow program models, including clinical, programmatic, and quality protocols.
  2. Exercise clinical judgment in observing, supporting, and communicating with individuals.
  3. Teach and reinforce activities of daily living, such as medication management, hygiene, cleaning, property management, relationship building, budgeting, and safety.
  4. Implement and develop program activities to reinforce skills, utilizing teachable moments.
  5. Follow all safety procedures, including crisis assessment, prevention, and intervention.
  6. Assist individuals to medical, dental, psychiatric appointments, or leisure activities using public transportation or agency vehicles.
  7. Maintain accurate program documentation.
  8. Perform household and property maintenance tasks.
  9. Provide specialized training to individuals and coworkers, such as in medication administration, human rights, safety, or activities coordination.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Job Requirements
  1. Proficiency in reading and writing in English.
  2. Six months of full-time paid or volunteer experience, or one year of part-time experience in human services, or enrollment in a human services degree program.
  3. CPR & First Aid (SFA) certification, to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  4. Department of Public Health medication administration certification, to be obtained within 6 months of hire; recertification every two years.
  5. Safety Care certification, to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  6. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and at least one year of driving experience.
