Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Residential Children's Support Worker in Barnsley. This role involves direct support for children aged 5-17 with complex needs, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met. Ideal candidates will have experience working with vulnerable young people and be registered with the Child DBS update service. Job description

Residential Children s Support Worker
Barnsley
25/08/2025 3 months initially
Rota basis including early, late and waking night shifts - this will include weekend working

(7am to 2.30pm, 2pm to 10pm, up to 37 hrs/week)

  • Direct work with children aged 5-17 years, with additional needs, complex health, learning difficulties / disabilities
  • Providing support and care to meet the individual needs of the children
  • Meet their physical and personal care needs, their emotional needs, their educational and employment needs and their social development and leisure needs
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of in-house care plans for residents
  • Undertake, up-date and monitor any risk assessments required in respect of specific young people
  • Contribute to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people at all times
  • Promote effective working relationships
  • Keep and maintain records of work
  • Participate in all meetings in respect of residents needs such as planning meetings and case reviews as required
Requirements
  • Experience of working with children and young people with complex disabilities/ working with children and young people with complex needs/and or adults
  • Ability to deal with difficult and challenging behaviour from young people in a calm and constructive manner
  • Awareness of Safeguarding issues
  • Child DBS registered to the update service
