Job description
Overview

Night Residential Children’s Practitioner Level 2 (Nights) – Springwood, Norwich. Permanent contract believed to be 25.66 hours per week. Salary: £31,537 to £33,699 pro rata per annum plus weekend enhancements. Grade G.

Young people are at the heart of our practice at Norfolk County Council. We are committed to providing proven, quality, holistic residential care for children and young people aged 0-17 and strive for excellent outcomes and lasting results. This post is predominantly night shifts and may include some day work to support training and supervision. We work across the whole week, including weekends and bank holidays, and may involve unsociable hours and sleep-ins. Springwood is a Residential Home in Norwich for young people with learning disabilities when family, foster care, or other community-based placements are not possible or desirable at the time.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting and providing meaningful day-to-day activities to children and young people, helping them develop emotional and social skills by building positive relationships.
  • Developing personal and practical skills to enhance young people’s independence.
  • Ensuring children’s and young people’s diverse communication needs are met, ascertaining their views and wishes and ensuring they are acted upon where appropriate.
  • Reporting and recording key aspects of care and developing professional skills as part of ongoing development.
  • Managing complex behaviours that can be challenging.
  • Providing personal intimate care and/or nursing care support to holistically support children and young people, when required.
  • Working in collaboration with families and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.
  • Holding or being willing to work towards the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care (paid for).
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience leading shifts and supporting junior staff is desirable.
  • Willingness to develop professionally within a strengths-based, relationship-focused practice model aligned with the Children’s Services “Vital Signs for Children” framework.
