Job summary

Jupiter Recruitment seeks an experienced Children\'s Home Registered Manager to open and lead a small home in Lewisham, SE London. The role focuses on high-quality care, safeguarding and support for young people with SEND and complex needs.

You will hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare and have at least 3 years\' residential childcare experience with 2+ years in supervision. Strong leadership and safeguarding knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

  • Hold Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in residential childcare with 2+ years in supervisory/management.
  • Full UK driving licence desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide confident, trauma‑informed leadership to staff team and young people.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment that promotes emotional, social and educational development for each child.
  • Recruit, induct and retain a high‑quality staff team with the necessary skills and values for working with vulnerable children.
  • Oversee staffing, training, supervisions, appraisals and professional development.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and emotional resilience.
  • Lead the home's strategic planning, setting objectives and measurable outcomes in line with organisational and regulatory expectations.
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date Statement of Purpose and ensure all operations reflect its aims and values.
  • Ensure full compliance with Ofsted and the Children's Homes Regulations.
  • Lead safeguarding efforts as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) including response to disclosures, incidents and concerns in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children and in line with local authority safeguarding partnership procedures.
  • Manage budgets, audits, inspections, and operational processes.
  • Build effective partnerships with families, professionals, and external agencies.

Job description

An amazing new job opportunity has arisen for an experienced Children's Home Registered Manager to open, establish and lead a small sized children's home located in Lewisham, South East London area.

This will be an Ofsted-regulated children's home providing high-quality care, safeguarding, and support for young people with SEND, emotional, behavioural, and complex needs.

To be considered for this position you must hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare + Minimum 3 years' experience in a residential childcare setting with 2+ years at supervisory/Deputy/management level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Experience supporting children with trauma, challenging behaviour, and complex needs.
  • Full UK driving licence is desirable.
  • Flexibility to be part of the on‑call rota (some evenings/weekends).
  • Knowledge of SEND and multi‑agency working.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Up to £70,000 per annum.
