We are looking for people who have experience of working with children in a professional capacity to join our Children’s Residential Services within Walsall.
Residential Childcare Workers (full-time and part-time posts) - Ref: CH01725
Salary G6: £29,093 - £33,366 pro-rata (plus 5% enhancement for unsociable hours and additional payments for sleeping in duties)
Qualified starting salary - £31,067 (pro-rata for part-time hours)
Unqualified starting salary - £29,093 (pro-rata for part-time hours)
Hours: various (37 hours x 1, 22 hours x1)
Location: Various homes across the borough of Walsall, this will be determined upon appointment.

We are looking for people who have some experience of working with children in any setting to join our Children’s Residential Services within Walsall. We have a full time and a part time posts we are recruiting to .
This role requires you to be resilient, resourceful, enthusiastic and motivated to be a positive influence on our children.
All successful candidates will be expected to work as part of a team that provides 24/7 on a rota basis. These shift patterns may vary across the service, but they will all include working weekdays, weekends, bank holidays and sleeping in duties (additional payment) .
- Qualified candidates will hold a level three/four qualification in children’s residential care or equivalent.
- We also encourage applications from unqualified candidates who can demonstrate some experience whether this be employed or voluntary who have a passion for working with children.
The Role
- As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will be involved in providing direct care for children and expected to engage with children and their families and be highly ambitious in helping them to achieve positive outcomes.
- Our focus is directed towards a child centred approach where we actively promote children’s rights. We deliver our services in safe personalised small group homes where the care is aimed at supporting children’s welfare.

Our Homes can accommodate children up to their 18th Birthday. Due to the nature of this post employees must be at least 4 years older than the oldest resident. Therefore, applicants must be 21 years of age or older
This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.

For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
