Job description

Join Us and Make a Difference: Become a Residential Childcare Worker at Salford City Council!

Are you ready to change lives and hearts in Salford?

In a time of exciting growth and development, Salford City Council’s Children's Residential Service is eagerly searching for compassionate and dedicated Residential Childcare Workers to join our new team at our Residential Children's home within the Residential Estate. Whether you have experience or are looking to start a rewarding career in children's residential care, we offer a supportive pathway to help you excel.

What You’ll Do:

As a Residential Childcare Worker, you'll play a crucial role in the daily lives of the children we care for, providing support, warmth, and structure. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing Care and Support: Help create a safe and nurturing home for our children, supporting their daily needs and personal development.
  • Using Therapeutic Approaches: Engage in training and utilise therapeutic methods to enhance the well-being of the children.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside a team of dedicated professionals aiming to make a substantial difference in young lives.
  • Learning and Growing: Participate in comprehensive training programs and pursue qualifications in residential childcare.
Who We’re Looking For:

We are seeking someone with a genuine desire to support and make a difference in the lives of young people. Previous experience in children's homes is desirable but not essential—we provide full training! A Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare is a plus but not mandatory. We will support the right candidate to achieve this qualification, including time off for study. We are looking for a long-term team member eager to grow their skills and impact their community.

If you have a heart for children’s welfare and are seeking a role where you can grow and truly make a difference, we would love to hear from you.

Let’s create a home together where every child can thrive. Be part of our growth and help us nurture the future of Salford’s children!

Salford City Council is committed to diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all community parts.

If you are interested in improving young people’s life chances and aligning with our values of Pride, Passion, People, and Personal Responsibility, this is an exciting time to join us. For an informal discussion, please contact the Home Manager, Catherine Houghton, via catherine.houghton@salford.gov.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you!
