Job summary

Spark of Genius in Dunoon is seeking a Residential Childcare Worker for night shifts. You will support young people with daily routines, meals and activities, while helping create a safe, nurturing home environment.

The role welcomes applicants with or without experience and offers a £500 Welcome Bonus, £1000 Refer a Friend Bonus, a full-time contract plus paid induction and ongoing specialist training.

Qualifications

• Experience in childcare, ASN or support work would benefit our young people.
• Warm, patient, a great listener and encourager - focused on outcomes for others.
• Able to work night shifts and adapt to a residential setting.

Responsibilities

• Support young people with daily routines: school prep, meals, activities.
• Create a warm, homely environment with light housekeeping tasks.
• Build strong relationships and provide emotional support to young people.
• Plan and join activities like trips to the park or movie nights.
• Document care records; use electronic systems (Clearcare training provided).

Pay: £27,976 to £32,510.40 depending on experience and qualifications

What You’ll Do

As a support worker, you will support young people with their daily routines; Getting them ready for school, prepping for meal times and planning activities. You will also:

• Create a warm, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping.
• Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support.
• Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects.
• Keep essential records to ensure the best possible care.
• New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people’s records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day-to-day role.
