Job summary

Acorn Training Ltd. is seeking a Trainer Assessor for Residential Childcare in Exeter. You will manage a caseload of apprentices, delivering high-quality teaching, coaching and assessment to help learners complete their Level 4/5 standards and related qualifications.

The role requires Level 5 specialism, CAVA, AET, English and Maths GCSE, and a valid driving licence. You will plan training with employers, conduct inductions, and ensure learning adheres to regulatory and AO quality standards.

Qualifications

• Level 5 qualification in subject sector specialism (essential).
• CAVA or equivalent (essential).
• AET or equivalent (essential).
• GCSE English and Maths (essential).
• Full, clean driving licence and access to vehicle (essential).
• IQA Level 4 (desirable).
• CET Level 4 or equivalent (desirable).
• IOSH Health & Safety at Work (desirable).
• First Aid at Work (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Manage an agreed caseload of apprentices and employer-based learners with high-quality training and assessment.
• Plan training using learners starting points to address knowledge, skills and English/maths development.
• Develop individual training plans with employers to prepare for final assessments.
• Organise induction programmes and clarify roles to support learner progress.
• Design and deliver effective training strategies and resources to drive progress.
• Ensure off-the-job training is planned, tracked, and monitored.
• Support learners' English, maths and digital skills development.
• Maintain safeguarding, equality and health and safety compliance in all activities.
