Contract: Casual

Location: Heysham, Morecambe

Salary: £12.29 per hour

We are looking for dynamic and inspirational Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our established Residential Team at Bay View on a casual basis, covering shifts as needed. You'll work in one of our family-feel children’s homes in Heysham or rural North Lancaster, with up to four young people per home. This role offers flexibility to work the hours you can commit to, with no contractual obligation.

Our service requires individuals dedicated to supporting young people aged 8-18 with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, helping them succeed and providing a safe, secure, homely, and positive environment. All our homes are rated 'Good' or 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, and we seek individuals who will help maintain and improve this standard.

You must be over 21 years of age and hold a full UK driving license.

It is a requirement that you hold a Diploma Level 3 in Working with Children & Young People.

Principal Accountabilities
  1. To perform duties as a Childcare Worker and Key Worker, exceeding Ofsted standards.
  2. To provide the highest standard of childcare to residents.
  3. To systematically improve the lives of young people in the home.
  4. To build and maintain positive relationships with families and external bodies.
  5. To foster a culture of trust and mutual respect within the home.
The Provision of Childcare
  1. Develop high-quality care plans for each young person.
  2. Adhere to legal requirements, Ofsted standards, and company policies.
  3. Communicate feedback from residents and relevant parties to management.
  4. Maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment.
  5. Build trusting relationships with children, understanding their backgrounds and needs.
  6. Be approachable, friendly, and professional, creating an inclusive environment.
  7. Work proactively to enhance children’s quality of life and build foundations for their future.
  8. Supervise children actively, watching for signs of distress and intervening appropriately.
  9. Manage conflicts effectively, following policies.
  10. Communicate issues and concerns promptly to management.
  11. Carry out risk assessments for activities.
  12. Participate actively in activities with children, acting as a positive role model.
  13. Discharge responsibilities as a 'Key Worker' and treat children as individuals.
  14. Maintain communication with families and friends of children.
  15. Contribute to reviews of children under your care.
  16. Follow all policies and procedures diligently, ensuring proper documentation.
  17. Ensure food standards are met and assist with cooking and shopping as needed.
