Job description

Specific Hours: Shift pattern - ad-hoc cover

LCS is seeking committed and enthusiastic Waking Night Residential Childcare Support Workers to work on a casual basis, covering shifts as needed. This role offers flexibility with no contractual obligations.

Our vision is to make a positive and lasting difference to young people who have been in care and are moving towards independence. We provide accommodation and support for young people to achieve independence and educational goals.

As a Waking Night Residential Childcare Support Worker, your role involves providing responsive, tailored, and quality support to young people in their individual flats or shared houses.

Young people supported by Leaving Care Solutions are vulnerable, and you are responsible for ensuring that the environment is safe, welcoming, and healthy.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Working according to person-centred risk assessments and support plans, liaising with team members for full handovers.
  • Monitoring behavioural changes, documenting observations, and reporting support needs.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with young people, staff, and external professionals.
  • Providing continuous support aligned with day staff standards, focusing on safety.
  • Carrying out health and safety tasks, including cleaning and adhering to policies.
  • Liaising with external agencies such as police and Emergency Duty Team (EDT).
  • Supporting young people attending hospital or police stations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience supporting vulnerable young people.
  • Flexibility to work weekends.
  • Hold or be willing to study towards a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce NVQ Level, or equivalent.
  • Full driving license and access to a vehicle, as travel is required.
