Residential Childcare Practitioner – Make a Difference!

Location: Sunderland, SR3
Provision: Children’s Home (Ages 7-17, SEBD)
Shifts: 2 on, 4 off (12-hour shifts, 2-3 sleeps per week)
Salary: Progressive Pay Scale Based on Experience & Qualifications

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD)?

As a Residential Childcare Practitioner, you’ll play a key role in nurturing, safeguarding, and inspiring children and young people to achieve positive outcomes. No two days are the same, and you’ll be part of a supportive, specialist team dedicated to transforming lives.

What We’re Looking For

Passion & Resilience – A commitment to providing the best possible care
Experience in Residential Childcare (Desirable, but not essential)
Relevant Qualifications – Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Residential Childcare or Social/Children’s Care (Desirable)
Ability to Handle Challenging Behaviour – With a nurturing, professional approach
Full UK Driving Licence – Essential
Minimum Age: 21

Key Responsibilities

Provide nurturing, high-quality care and create a safe, supportive home environment
Support young people in their education, independence & daily routines
Work closely with Psychologists & the therapeutic services team to implement care plans
Lead by example and share best practices with your colleagues
Engage in shift work, including weekends, evenings & sleep-ins
