Abbey Green Therapeutic Children’s Services is a small family-owned Residential Care company based in the Nottinghamshire area. We operate 6 small Residential Children’s Homes and have recently been judged 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.

We are seeking Apprentice Support Workers and Activity Workers to join our team. We look for 'Therapeutic Parents' who are nurturing and supportive, capable of providing high levels of care to help our children achieve outstanding outcomes.

Abbey Green is committed to positively transforming children’s lives by offering a specialist service that tailors therapeutic care packages to support young people's development. Our expertise includes attachment and early life trauma, using therapeutic parenting, DDP, and PACE approaches.

Please note: This role involves ‘sleep shifts,’ meaning you will sleep onsite during one of your shifts. You are required to undertake 6 of these shifts per month.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Daily Care: Provide direct care, support, and supervision to children and young people in accordance with their individual care plans.
  2. Wellbeing Support: Promote healthy lifestyles, emotional resilience, and personal growth.
  3. Behaviour Management: Employ positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to help young people manage challenges effectively.
  4. Activities Organisation: Plan and participate in educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities tailored to individual needs and interests.
  5. Advocacy: Build trusting relationships, act as a positive role model, and advocate for the children’s and young people's best interests.
  6. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, care plans, and logs following organisational policies and regulatory standards.
  7. Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues, families, and external professionals to deliver holistic care and promote positive outcomes.
  8. Training & Development: Engage fully in apprenticeship training, complete all coursework, and attend scheduled learning sessions.

Paragon Skills is a leading national apprenticeship training provider, supporting over 4,000 learners and 1,500 organisations. It has an Ofsted Grade 2 'Good' rating and an achievement rate of 71.4%, above the national average of 65.6%. Learners are supported through a blended learning approach, with a dedicated Personal Tutor. You will be allocated 20% of your working hours to study, maximizing your chances of achieving high grades.
