Job description

Every child deserves a safe and supportive environment where they can thrive!

At Pebbles Care, our Residential Child Care Workers provide that opportunity for our children by offering a stable home environment. Collaborating with our established teams, you will become an essential part of our children's lives. As a committed member of our Pebbles family, you will support every aspect of home and school life, as well as participate in all the fun activities. Pebbles offers you the unique opportunity to form lasting relationships, as our children typically stay with us for an average of two years.

If you enjoy working with children and have the resilience to deal with challenging behaviours, while still offering a caring and supportive therapeutic approach, then this may be the perfect opportunity for you.

Your role as a Residential Child Care Worker

Our full-time roles are on average 56.4 hours per week (including sleep hours), but we also offer part-time and zero-hour contracts. As part of a shift team, you may provide support on a one-to-one or two-to-one basis, depending on the child's needs.

You will benefit from expert advice and training from our specialist in-house psychology team, as well as our education, learning, and development department.

Safeguarding our young people from risk and harm is our main priority. With your team, you will ensure that our children and young people are cared for in every aspect of their lives, including keeping them safe, providing someone to talk to, having fun, supporting their education, traveling to school, cooking, cleaning, and learning new life skills.

You will be required to drive our company vehicles to ensure that our young people attend appointments, educational activities, and other events. Therefore, you must have a full, valid UK driving licence for manual vehicles. If you have an overseas licence, we require you to apply for a UK licence upon receiving an employment offer.

The role is challenging and requires resilience, determination, and patience. Your role will allow you to be creative when caring for our children and young people. Your skills, hobbies, and interests will bring additional inspiration to our homes.

You will be based within one home full-time, but may occasionally support other homes within the same area.

What We Offer You
  • A starting salary of £34,719.00 to £36,248.00 per year, depending on experience.
  • Full-time roles operate on a rota of one day on (24 hours including sleepover) and two days off (48 hours).
  • Your average working hours, including sleepovers, are 56.4 hours per week. Part-time and zero-hour contracts may be available for flexibility.
  • 5.6 weeks' annual leave (pro-rata for part-time).
  • Funding for Level 3 /NVQ qualification in Residential Child Care.
  • Leadership and management development courses.
  • Career reviews after induction, training, and qualification completion.
  • Auto-enrolment into our pension scheme (Scottish Widows).
  • Healthcare plan via Medicash, including dental, optical, gym discounts, GP access, counselling, and more.
  • Blue Light Card for store discounts.
  • Meals provided on shift, depending on the home's menu.
