Residential Child Care Support Worker (Sessional/Casual)

Full Time/Permanent: Shift pattern - ad-hoc cover

Salary: £ per hour

North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established provider of residential care and education for boys aged -. We focus on improving resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of young people.

As a Support Care Worker, you are expected to be “strong, committed, and passionate.” You will be a role model, a listening ear, approachable, and potentially inspiring, making a significant impact on young people's lives. Your role involves creating “happy memories” and supporting their development.

We are seeking Care Workers for our homes in Carlisle and Headsnook on a casual basis, with a warm and approachable manner, capable of positively influencing young people's recovery from early life experiences.

Main Duties
  • Supporting daily routines, including hygiene, meals, and activities
  • Supporting room cleans, life skills, independence, socialization, and bedtime routines
  • Attending medical and other appointments
  • Supporting activity plans
  • Completing daily sheets and working on targets
  • Handling paperwork, budgeting, and checks (COSHH, fire, car)
  • Building relationships with families and planning family contacts

All applicants must have:

  • Flexibility in availability, including sleep-in nights and shifts of up to hours with varied start times
  • An understanding of issues faced by young people in care
  • Qualifications such as Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level in Health & Social Care, or willingness to work towards one
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
  • Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check (paid for by us)
  • Experience with EBD, social/residential work, or youth work is advantageous
  • A full, clean UK driving license and flexibility to cover other homes as needed
