Residential Child Care Support Worker

Location: Wigton

Contract Type: Part-time, permanent

Specific Hours: hours per week - shift pattern

Salary: Unqualified Basic Salary: £, pro rata (£, FTE) per annum with potential to earn up to £, with sleep-in shifts. Qualified Basic Salary: £, pro rata (£, FTE) per annum with potential to earn up to £, with sleep-in shifts. (Qualified Care Worker salary is based on the proven completion of a Level Diploma for Residential Childcare)

North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established provider of residential care and education for boys aged -. We focus on improving resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of young people.

As a Residential Support Worker, you are expected to be “strong, committed, and passionate”. You will be a role model, a listening ear, approachable, and capable of inspiring and making a significant impact on young people's lives. Promoting, supporting, and creating “happy memories” is essential.

We seek permanent Support Workers with a warm, approachable manner who can significantly influence a young person’s recovery from early life experiences.

Main Duties

Tasks include supporting boys’ daily routines, promoting independence, attending appointments, supporting activity plans, completing paperwork, budgeting, house checks, shopping, meal prep, and liaising with families. You will also serve as a Keyworker, building strong bonds and creating opportunities for the young people.

Requirements
  • Flexibility for sleep-in nights and shift work, including full days on, days off, with rotating start times.
  • Understanding of issues facing young people in care.
  • Qualifications: Diploma in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level in Health & Social Care, or willingness to work towards.
  • Excellent communication skills, willingness to learn, team player.
  • Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check (paid for by us).
  • Experience with EBD, social/residential work, or youth work is advantageous.
  • Full, clean UK driving license, ability to cover other homes as needed.
