Summary:

The Residential Case Maintenance Worker/Child Advocate will work with the Residential Case Manager to provide follow-up case maintenance for established service plans and offer direct supportive services to children who have experienced domestic violence, using a trauma-informed approach. This position will assist in the administration and management of the shelter/transitional housing facility program in collaboration with the Director of Residential Services. The role includes case management and advocacy for victims and their children of domestic violence, assault, and human trafficking. Must be dedicated to the mission of YWCA York.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for building security, contents, and occupant well-being during duty hours. Conduct monthly fire evacuation drills and orient new staff to evacuation procedures.
• Conduct intakes for new clients, answer hotline calls, and perform hospital accompaniments as needed.
• Provide emotional support to children and coordinate/implement children’s programs.
• Conduct intake interviews and develop service plans for each child by meeting with parents to assess individual needs.
• Advocate for children with outside agencies and maintain cooperative relationships with community resources.
• Provide parenting skills training through individual or group counseling and facilitate children’s support groups as needed.
• Participate in house, staff, and direct service meetings.
• Maintain statistics, children’s files, and reports as required by PCADV.
• Manage children’s areas within the emergency shelter and children’s programming room.
• Maintain confidentiality of client materials and files.
• Collaborate with the Director of Residential Services and staff on menu planning, food shopping, and inventory management.
• Flex work schedule as needed based on operational requirements of the Emergency Shelter.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of PCAR/PCCD/PCADV advocate training within 90 days of employment.

Experience in providing services to victims of domestic violence in crisis; strong decision-making skills; ability to supervise and collaborate with staff.

Full-time position, 11 am to 7 pm. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
