Job summary

Horizon Care & Education in Southampton is recruiting a Residential Care Worker for a brand-new therapeutic assessment home. The role focuses on active, child-centred engagement and building supportive relationships to aid outcomes for children and young people.

You’ll be part of a collaborative team delivering short-term assessments in a nurturing setting, with training and development opportunities across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in children's residential care is desirable (essential for Senior Residential).
• Willingness to pursue Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and sleep-ins.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Exploring forests, beaches and local attractions.
• Playing football, swimming, cycling, gaming and activities with children.
• Cooking meals together while teaching life skills.
• Celebrating birthdays, achievements and special moments.
• Taking young people on days out and creating positive memories.
• Encouraging hobbies, creativity and new experiences.
• Building trusting relationships through meaningful conversations.
• Supporting education, daily routines and independence.
• Helping children manage difficult emotions using therapeutic approaches.
• Producing high-quality records and contributing to assessments.
• Working closely with families, social workers, education providers and health professionals.

What You'll Need

• Experience in children's residential care is desirable (essential for Senior Residential
• A willingness to work towards, or already hold, a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and sleep-ins.
• A full UK driving licence is preferred.
