Job description

An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Residential Building Site Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and safety of a vibrant school environment. This full-time role involves ensuring the site is kept to high standards while engaging positively with students and staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong DIY skills, a commitment to health and safety, and the ability to manage contractors effectively. In return, the school offers a supportive team and a detached residential property.

Salary: £24,027 - £25,992 (subject to evaluation under the Pay Equity Review)

Hours: 36.50 hours per week, all year round (split shift)

Contract: Permanent – Monday to Friday, 07:00-11:00 and 14:30-18:00. Some weekend/out-of-hours work may occasionally be required.

Start Date: 21st July 2025

Due to the retirement of our current Site Supervisor, we seek an enthusiastic, reliable, and self-motivated Building Services Supervisor to join our team of dedicated support staff committed to the school's ethos and values.

The role involves supervising the school site, including maintenance, janitorial, cleaning, key holding, alarm response, and engaging with pupils and parents. Health and safety is a key aspect of the role.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all children and stakeholders
  • Maintain high standards and take pride in their work
  • Ensure the site is maintained to an excellent standard
  • Prioritize workload effectively with a proactive attitude
  • Possess proven DIY and repair skills for general maintenance tasks
  • Undertake janitorial and cleaning services
  • Engage and manage external contractors
  • Have up-to-date training and evidence of CPD (Health and Safety, Manual Handling, COSHH, etc.)
  • Be committed to ongoing training and professional development
  • Open and close the school buildings, ensuring security
  • Hold key holding responsibilities
  • Lead on all Health and Safety aspects within the school
  • Move furniture/equipment as required
  • Complete maintenance and H&S tasks within designated timescales

You will:

  • Present professionally and be well-groomed
  • Ideally have previous school caretaking experience
  • Be flexible with working hours and job requirements

Other requirements:

  • Practical skills in maintenance and cleaning
  • Experience managing Health & Safety, contractors, and cleaning staff
  • IT skills are beneficial
