Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Resident Optometrist to join the Ophthalmology Department. The role will primarily be based at St James's University Hospital, with potential travel to other Trust sites.

GOC registered optometrists with hospital clinic experience are preferred to develop core and enhanced optometry skills within secondary care. The successful candidate will work in a large team of optometrists and will engage in corneal, glaucoma, acute referral and medical retina

Qualifications

• GOC-registered optometrist
• Experience in hospital or secondary care optometry settings (desirable)
• Ability to develop core optometry skills across refraction, contact lenses, low vision, dispensing and keratoconus monitoring

Responsibilities

• Deliver broad core optometric services to a high standard including refraction, contact lenses, low vision, dispensing and keratoconus monitoring
• Develop skills in enhanced clinics such as corneal, glaucoma, acute referral and medical retina with senior support
• Undertake delegated administrative responsibilities as directed by the Head of Optometry or senior colleagues
