Job summary

One Health Group is seeking an experienced Resident Medical Officer (RMO) to deliver high-quality medical care for patients undergoing elective orthopaedic and spinal surgery within the OHG Surgical Hub. The role focuses on continuous inpatient medical support, collaborating with consultants, anaesthetists, and nursing staff to ensure safe and effective patient care.

The RMO will handle admission reviews, daily management, and timely escalation of deteriorations, while adhering to local policies

Responsibilities

• Provide medical assessment and management of elective surgical patients throughout their inpatient stay.
• Respond promptly to clinical concerns, patient deterioration and medical emergencies.
• Undertake admission reviews, post-operative assessments and ongoing daily patient management.
• Support the recognition and escalation of deteriorating patients using appropriate clinical pathways.
• Liaise with consultant surgeons and anaesthetists regarding patient management and treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications safely in accordance with local policies and national guidance.
• Interpret clinical investigations including blood results, ECGs and diagnostic imaging where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical documentation.
• Participate in discharge planning and ensure appropriate follow-up arrangements.
• Provide support during emergency situations, including medical emergencies and cardiac arrests.
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
• Promote excellent communication with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team.

• One operating theatre.
• Three-bay recovery unit.
• Twelve inpatient bedrooms.

• Total hip and knee replacement.
