Job summary

One Health Group is seeking experienced Recovery Practitioners to join our specialist elective surgery hub in Scunthorpe. You will provide high-quality post-anaesthetic and post-operative care for patients undergoing major orthopaedic and spinal procedures, working with the clinical lead and theatre teams to ensure safe recovery, assessment and transfer after surgery.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or ODP with post-anaesthetic recovery experience.
• Experience in elective orthopaedic/spine surgery recovery.
• Ability to monitor, assess and escalate patient conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe post-anaesthetic care after elective surgery.
• Monitor patients and assess recovery progress.
• Recognise and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Support airway management and emergency care when needed.
• Assess and manage postoperative pain and nausea.
• Complete accurate recovery documentation.
• Support discharge from recovery according to criteria.
• Perform postoperative observations, including NEWS2 when required.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team for patient care.
• Contribute to audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Job description

We are looking for experienced and motivated Recovery Practitioners (Registered Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners) to join our specialist recovery team. The successful candidates will provide high-quality post-anaesthetic and post-operative care for patients undergoing elective orthopaedic and spinal surgery. Working closely with the Clinical Lead Recovery, anaesthetists, theatre practitioners and inpatient ward team, you will support the safe recovery, assessment and transfer of patients following surgery. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a new specialist elective surgical service and contribute to establishing excellent standards of recovery care.Main duties of the job The successful candidate will:

• Provide safe and effective post-anaesthetic care to patients following elective surgery.
• Monitor and assess patients throughout the recovery period.
• Recognise and elevate changes in patient condition appropriately.
• Support airway management and emergency care when required.
• Assess and manage post-operative pain and nausea.
• Complete accurate recovery documentation.
• Support safe discharge from recovery in line with agreed criteria.
• Perform appropriate post-operative observations, including NEWS2 assessment where required.
• Support patients undergoing major orthopaedic and spinal procedures.
• Maintain high standards of infection prevention and patient safety.
• Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.

• Three-bay recovery unit.

We specialise in elective surgery including:

• Total hip and knee replacement.
• Revision arthroplasty where clinically appropriate.
• Spinal procedures including:
  • Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF).
  • Cervical/Lumbar decompression.
  • Lumbar discectomy.
  • Spinal fusion procedures.
