Title: Static Maintenance Engineer – Canada Water
Purpose of Role
- As a maintenance operative, you will be responsible for undertaking both planned and reactive maintenance. The role's purpose is to carry out day-to-day maintenance supporting the Contract, Supervisor, or Management, ensuring the client's assets are maintained in a safe, efficient, and functional order.
- You should be well-organized, able to work to timescales, respond to emergencies, and work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Maintain and repair the client's mechanical and electrical systems and components.
- Review and monitor sub-contractor performance during specialist service visits or repairs.
- Ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
- Complete simPRO/instruction sets with annotations and photographs upon maintenance completion.
- Keep logbook records for electrical, mechanical, and water systems, including health and safety documentation.
- Report issues with statutory planned maintenance to TSM and Management.
- Maintain comfortable environmental conditions via HVAC systems.
- Perform reactive repairs, fault finding, and respond to BMS alarms for diagnostics.
- Identify and report hazards encountered during maintenance.
- Operate all plant and services responsibly, including start-up, shutdown, and fault finding procedures.
- Conduct regular walk-rounds to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational compliance of plant rooms.
- Communicate effectively with clients and end-users, maintaining professional relations.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and small installations as directed.
- Maintain health & safety, building compliance, and quality assurance documentation.
- Develop good team relationships and keep supervisors informed.
- Communicate maintenance impacts and ensure safety during operations.
- Share knowledge and skills to promote safe and continuous operations.
- Report hazards and safety concerns immediately to TSM and Contract Manager.
- Isolate and secure pressure systems when required.
- Work overtime as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform other duties as required by the Contract, Supervisor, or Management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- City & Guilds Level III or equivalent in Electrical and Mechanical disciplines (essential).
- Completed 18th Edition I.E.E (essential).
- City & Guilds BS 2391 Level 3 Electrical Inspection & Testing (desirable).
- IOSH Working Safely (desirable).
- PASMA and IPAF certifications (desirable).
- Strong understanding of Electricity at Work regulations (essential).
- Experience with hot water systems, BMS, generators, and other plant systems (desirable).
- Valid certificates for High Voltage systems (desirable).
- Experience in maintenance, testing, and fault finding on various equipment.
