Job Title: Resident Maintenance Site Engineer

Location: Oxfordshire

Job Purpose: The Resident Site Engineer will provide on-site technical support, maintenance, and repair of equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of systems at the customer’s site. Acting as a technical expert and primary point of contact, this role requires a proactive approach to resolving issues, optimizing performance, and maintaining excellent customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Technical Support:

  1. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  2. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, and automated systems.
  3. Monitor equipment performance, identify potential issues, and take corrective action to prevent downtime.
  4. Ensure all equipment is maintained in line with manufacturer recommendations and site-specific requirements.

On-Site Operations:

  1. Act as the primary technical representative for the company at the customer’s site.
  2. Provide real-time support to address any issues that arise during operations.
  3. Coordinate with the customer and external contractors for planned maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
  4. Maintain a safe and organized working environment in line with site regulations.

Customer Relationship Management:

  1. Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the customer, acting as their first point of contact for all technical queries.
  2. Provide regular updates on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and any upcoming requirements.
  3. Train and support the customer’s staff on the operation and basic maintenance of equipment.
  4. Handle customer concerns promptly and professionally to maintain trust and satisfaction.

Documentation and Reporting:

  1. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
  2. Submit detailed service reports and equipment performance logs to the company and customer as required.
  3. Keep track of spare parts inventory and coordinate replenishment as needed.

Compliance and Safety:

  1. Adhere to all health and safety standards, including risk assessments and method statements.
  2. Ensure compliance with both company policies and customer site regulations.
  3. Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and working practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Proven experience in a similar engineering role, preferably within [specify industry, e.g., automation, manufacturing, or distribution].
  2. Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automated systems.
  3. Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  4. Experience working on-site with direct customer interaction.
  5. Formal engineering qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3, or Time served apprentice).
  6. Experience working with Conveyors, Scanners, sensors, lifts, and compactors.
  7. Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, and control systems.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with customers and colleagues.
  3. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  4. Strong organizational skills for managing maintenance schedules and documentation.
  5. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and maintenance management software.

Additional Requirements:

  1. Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate customer needs. Double days shift pattern. Week 1 6am – 2pm & Week 2 2pm – 10pm.
