Job description

Are you passionate about empowering communities and improving housing services? We are looking for a proactive and people-focused Resident Engagement Officer to join our Crawley Homes team.

This is a key role in delivering meaningful resident involvement and consultation. You’ll help ensure that the voices of our tenants, leaseholders, and shared owners are heard and acted upon, shaping the future of housing services in Crawley.

Key responsibilities include:

  • delivering and coordinating actions within Crawley Homes’ Resident Engagement Strategy
  • developing a wide range of participation opportunities tailored to residents’ needs
  • facilitating and supporting tenant panels, including recruitment, training, and development of volunteers
  • analysing feedback from surveys, events, and complaints to inform service improvements
  • leading and supporting projects based on tenant feedback to enhance service delivery
  • collaborating with internal teams, external agencies, and contractors to improve services and neighbourhoods
  • supporting policy development and resident consultation across Crawley Homes

We're looking for someone with:

  • strong communication and facilitation skills across diverse audiences
  • experience in resident engagement, participation, or community development
  • the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects effectively
  • knowledge of housing regulation, in particular, the Consumer Standards
  • analytical skills to interpret data and produce actionable insights.

It would also be desirable to have:

  • experience in local government or housing
  • Chartered Institute of Housing qualification or relevant degree
  • experience working with tenant groups or volunteers

Crawley is a great place to work, with a thriving business district and excellent transport connections including nearby Gatwick Airport. We are based in our modern Town Hall which opened in 2023 and is located a short walk from the town centre and railway station.

Additional information

A full and current UK driving licence is a requirement of the role as well as the ability to undertake all physical and practical aspects of setting up events and meetings.

You will also need to be able to join community events and meetings outside of standard working hours when required, for which time off in lieu would be given.
