Job Opportunity: Resident Doctor – Critical Care

Location: The Princess Grace Hospital

Salary Range: Offering a Highly Competitive Salary

Contract Type: Substantive, salaried - Minimum 2-year commitment

Shifts/Work Pattern: Typically, most doctors prefer 1 x 24-hour shift per week or 2 x 12-hour shifts. Full-time positions are also available, with rotas planned in advance to provide flexibility.

We have an exceptional career opportunity for Critical Care/Anaesthetic trained, airway trained Junior Doctors to join our Resident Doctors team at The Princess Grace Hospital.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build partnerships with private patient consultants, learn from specialist nurses, and be part of critical care pathways, as directed by the named consultants. The hospital admits a wide range of complex cases, fostering a great team environment sharing specialist knowledge and experience.

Your primary role as a Resident Doctor
  • This is a Consultant-Led organisation, supporting the day-to-day operations of the Critical Care Ward and ITU units, including medical care from admission to discharge.
  • Independently managing medical care for inpatients, including clerking new admissions, daily ward rounds, and responding to emergencies.
  • Performing medical procedures as required by the lead consultant, such as vascular access, airway management, ultrasound use, ventilation management, and other procedures like chest/abdominal drain insertion and lumbar puncture.
  • Participating in MDT meetings, audits, and training to continually improve staff and patient care.
Requirements for Successful Applicants
  • Fully registered with the GMC and holding a current licence to practice.
  • Post-graduate qualifications such as FRCA, FICM, MRCEM, MRCP, or equivalent are desirable.
  • NHS-trained in Intensive Care Medicine or Anaesthesia to ST3 level or above, or equivalent.
  • Ability to manage complex airways independently and support others.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring junior doctors.
  • Current ALS certification.
