Job summary

Hartpury University and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire is recruiting a Cleaning Assistant to support residential provision on the Hartpury Campus. You will work as part of a team to keep student accommodation clean, including communal areas, bedrooms and bathrooms, with duties aligned to academic year and peak summer periods.

The role requires a caring approach, reliability and the ability to work independently or with colleagues.

Qualifications

• Caring nature with an interest in student wellbeing.

• Follow instructions from the Residential Cleaning Team Supervisor.
• Excellent time management and awareness of safety procedures.
• Previous cleaning experience preferred but full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Support Residential Provision for 1,095 students on Hartpury Campus.
• Clean communal areas, bedrooms and bathrooms in student halls (under 18).
• Clean kitchens, appliances, surfaces, bins, glass and low-level windows.
• Deep clean student accommodation during the Summer months.
• Assist with room preparations and bed making for guests/residents.
• Occasional weekend work may be required at peak periods; time in lieu provided.

Job description

The responsibilities of this role are varied depending on the time of the year and the business need.

During the academic year you will:

• Be part of the Residential Provision supporting the 1095 students who reside on the Hartpury Campus.
• Be responsible for cleaning the communal areas in the student’s hall of residence as well as bedrooms & bathrooms for our students who are aged under 18.
• Duties within the communal areas/kitchens will include, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning surfaces, emptying kitchens bins, cleaning kitchen appliances and cleaning of glass & low-level windows.
• Duties within the student bedrooms will include, dusting, vacuuming, and bathroom cleaning (Toilets, showers, sinks, tiles).

During the Summer Months you will work as part of a team:

• Undertaking deep cleaning of the student accommodation.
• Supporting the cleaning of rooms for guests who reside on campus, this will include housekeeping duties such as bed making.
• Supporting the Residential provision to ensure that students bedrooms are prepared in advance of September arrivals, this can include the moving of bedroom furnishing and mattresses.

Occasional weekend work may be required at peak periods, reasonable notice will be provided and time in lieu granted.

Working schedule: Monday 9:30am – 14:30pm, Tuesday 8:30am –14:30pm, Wednesday 8:30am – 14:30pm, Thursday 8:30am – 14:30pm and Friday 9:30am – 2:30pm

• Ideally you will have previous experience of working within a cleaning role, but this is not essential as full training is provided.
