Overview
Rother District Council are expanding their Resettlement Team and are looking for an individual with the experience, knowledge and expertise to assist with the delivery of their Resettlement Schemes. This is a unique opportunity to engage with partner services in Health, Housing, Education and Social Care alongside key community and faith groups to ensure vulnerable households fleeing conflict are effectively supported to resettle in East Sussex.
Responsibilities
- Providing housing-related support services and working closely with a number of local stakeholders towards the successful resettlement of vulnerable displaced households
- Housing management for families residing in Council owned temporary accommodation
- Assisting families on Ukraine schemes, as well as the Afghan Resettlement Programmes and UK Resettlement Scheme
- Carrying out a Needs Assessment and work with migrant families to produce a support plan within one week of arrival. Providing regular support visits in accordance with the support plan and reviewing the plan at regular intervals to ensure ongoing support
- Providing advice and support to refugees on benefits, employability, statutory, voluntary, and mainstream services, schools/colleges, and health services
- Experience of direct client case work providing advice and support to customers on statutory, voluntary and mainstream service
- Excellent listening skills and the ability to empathise as well as establish professional boundaries
- Must be able to be flexible with working hours for occasional evening and weekend working
- Provable ability to take a flexible and creative approach to problem-solving
- Appropriate IT skills including experience in using Microsoft Office products
