Job description

As a Reservoir Engineer, you will provide essential technical advice to our Operational and Engineering teams, ensuring effective governance of reservoir management. You will support the condition assessment program in this role, informing immediate remedial actions and long-term investment plans. Reporting to the Reservoir Safety Manager, you'll conduct inspections of reservoirs and related structures, across the entire Thames Water area.

Your responsibilities will include producing technical reports, making recommendations, directing necessary remedial works, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Your expertise will be critical in enhancing reservoir management practices in this vital region.

What you’ll be doing as a Reservoir Engineer

  • Undertake inspections of Reservoirs and associated assets, providing technical reports, recommendations, and guidance to the business to ensure compliance with engineering-based regulatory requirements.
  • Provide advice on matters regarding Reservoir Safety and undertake an appropriate condition assessment and inspection programme. The condition assessment programme output will be input into short-term remedial works needs and long-term investment programmes.
  • Provide an overview of the reservoir and associated asset condition for the business to inform the corporate governance processes.
  • Support developing policies, standards, systems, and processes in asset condition assessment and provide the business with guidance and support relating to asset assessment.
  • Manage and develop key stakeholder relationships to improve business performance.

What you should bring to the role

  • Civil Engineering degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven background in inspecting civil structures, writing technical reports and providing technical engineering recommendations and guidance.
  • Knowledgeable of IT systems.
  • Confident in liaising with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Hold a valid driving licence with access to a car.
